Large amounts of money raised is ‘Par for the Course’

Friday the 23rd September saw 32 golfers descend on Cleethorpes Golf Club in the inaugural Martin Maslin MacMIllan Golf Day. Staff and Clients of Martin Maslin Estate Agents, Ashley Estates, Wilkin Chapman and Forrester Boyd made up two teams and went head to head in a Ryder Cup style format. The sole purpose of the day was to raise a large amount of money for MacMillan Cancer Support, an aim that was a resounding success.

On the course, the team made up by Martin Maslin and Ashley Estates strolled to a 16.5 to 7.5 victory. In the 19th hole though is where the money was raised through a name card, raffle and auction. Prizes were kindly donated by a number of individuals and companies for which the organisers were extremely grateful, “the generosity of people is incredible” said Dan Holland of Martin Maslins, “we had large companies like Zoopla donating 2 tickets in their VIP box at the O2, Grimsby Town footballer Ben Davies donated a pair of signed match worn boots both of which were auctioned off with great success. As well as the fundraising in the clubhouse we raised money by collecting tee sponsors, this was again greatly appreciated.”

In total the day raised a staggering £2002.95, an effort very much appreciated by Jamie Davenport, fundraising manager at MacMillan Cancer Support, “I was soimpressed with the golf day it was a truly brilliant effort I would like to pass my best wishes on to the team, this takes Martin Maslin’s fundraising to over £5,500 since September 2014 – which is absolutely brilliant”

Dan Holland went on to say “I am overwhelmed by the amount raised for a charity that means so much to me and others at Martin Maslins, the fundraising doesn’t stop here either. My wife, Karen, who also works part time for Maslins is undertaking her 2nd half marathon on the 9th October and is again raising funds for MacMillan.”

Karen added, “I am training really hard for this and would love it if anyone would be kind enough to sponsor me ahead of the Royal Parks half marathon, this would really drive me on and try and better the time for my last half marathon.” If you would like to sponsor Karen and ultimately donate to MacMillan Cancer Support, please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Karen-Holland8
